The Benefits of Therapeutic Wellness for Your Mind and Body

Therapeutic wellness is a holistic approach to improving your overall well-being, encompassing physical, emotional, and mental health. Traditional mental health services focus on talk therapy approaches that do not address underlying trauma. Do you ever feel stuck in a loop of therapy and self help that works for a while but never seems to stick or resolve the underlying issues? By addressing the root causes of stress and other mental and physical health issues, therapeutic wellness can help you feel better and live a more fulfilling life. Learn more about the benefits of healing your mind and body and how to get started on your journey to better functioning and improved quality of life.

What is Therapeutic Wellness?

Therapeutic wellness is a holistic approach that focuses on treating the whole person, rather than just their symptoms. It encompasses a range of practices and techniques, including mental health therapy, medication, massage therapy, acupuncture, meditation, and yoga, among others. The goal of therapeutic wellness is to promote healing and balance in the body, mind, and spirit, and to help individuals achieve optimal health and well-being. At Cactus Flower Healing we believe in using a whole body approach to healing, because we understand that nervous system regulation is necessary to heal our bodies and minds. Through a blended approach of talk therapy and somatic practices, we help women heal the root of their mental health challenges rather than merely easing their symptoms.

We have learned that trauma is not just an event that took place sometime in the past; it is also the imprint left by that experience on mind, brain, and body. This imprint has ongoing consequences for how the human organism manages to survive in the present.

Benefits of Therapeutic Wellness

Reduce Stress and Anxiety

One of the key benefits of therapeutic wellness is its ability to reduce stress and anxiety. Life can be overwhelming - conflicting commitments, expectations from friends, family, and employers, even the amount of sensory input we experience on a daily basis is enough to put the body in a sympathetic state (flight/fight/freeze). Techniques such as meditation, yoga, and massage therapy can help to calm the mind and relax the body, reducing feelings of tension and promoting a sense of calm. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals who experience chronic stress or anxiety, as it can help to improve their overall quality of life and reduce the risk of related health problems. Sometimes it’s not possible to change our stressors so we have to learn to manage and regulate the stress. Calming your nervous system helps give you space and energy to be there for yourself and for all the other people who depend on you.

Enhance Overall Physical and Mental Health

Therapeutic wellness can have a positive impact on both your physical and mental health. Regular movement, such as yoga or tai chi, can improve cardiovascular health, increase flexibility and strength, and reduce the risk of chronic diseases. Additionally, practices like meditation and mindfulness can improve mental clarity, reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, and promote a sense of well-being. By incorporating therapeutic wellness into your daily routine, you can enhance your overall health and well-being.

Body Based Services

Massage and Reiki

Massage is not just a luxury self care activity, it can be an important part of a holistic healing plan. As more research is done on the physical effects of trauma, mental health practitioners are recognizing what body workers have known for thousands of years. Trauma and stress affect our bodies and we need ways to release the energy from negative experiences and emotions. Massage and reiki are both helpful ways to release stored pain and improve our overall quality of life.

Some of the benefits of massage include: stress reduction, improved sleep, and reduction in pain. Reiki is a touch free service that has many of the same benefits as massage. You can do reiki fully clothed and the lack of physical contact may feel safer for some people. Reiki can help relieve physical pain and increase relaxation.

Yoga

Yoga is a complete practice and has existed for thousands of years. In America we generally equate yoga with the asanas - or physical movements, but it is a full mind/body practice or discipline. At Cactus Flower Healing we use yoga to help calm the mind and body and to gently guide the release of traumatic stress and negative energy. We believe yoga should be enjoyed by every body and that it is not a competitive sport. Some of the benefits of yoga include: improved flexibility, decreased pain, sense of calm and relaxation, and deeper connection between your mind and body.

Biofeedback

Biofeedback is used to help train your mind and body to be more connected and to increase calm and relaxation, thereby increasing productivity and wellbeing. We use Heartmath and LENS to help increase awareness of your body’s natural responses and decrease painful symptoms.
